Environment Plus – reducing the impact of waste on the environment. Solutions and cross-border issues. (2007 – 2008)

The Corona Foundation, the Suceava branch in partnership with the Romontana Association and the Aron Pumnul Scientific-Pedagogical Association (Ukraine), have carried out the project “Environment Plus – Reducing Environmental Impact, Problems and Cross-Border Solutions”. It took place between October 2007 and September 2008, with applications in the counties of Suceava and Botosani in Romania, as well as in the Chernivtsi region of Ukraine.

Funding was provided by the European Union through the Romania-Ukraine Neighborhood Program 2004-2006, the Phare CBC 2005 component. The aim of the project was to develop cross-border cooperation to improve management activities with results in reducing the impact of waste on the environment. The target group consisted of 20 non-governmental organizations, as well as 60 mayors and deputy mayors of the two regions. The initiative resulted in the training session of the 20 environmental NGOs in Romania and Ukraine, the organization of a workshop, the publication of the legislative guide and good practices for reducing the environmental impact of the waste in a cross-border context, the training of 60 deputy mayors and mayors and the printing of 200 brochures. Also, a campaign to raise awareness of the population in border areas and then an information campaign for local authorities.

Total project budget: 140,000 Euro.
